montville timber trail

2-3 May

10am to 4pm

The Montville Timber Trail is a dedicated celebration of local craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and the region’s longstanding connection to timber and timber craft. The event will bring together artists, woodworkers, toolmakers, designers, and the wider community for a weekend of demonstrations, exhibitions, timber sales, and hands-on engagement with the craft traditions that have shaped the Hinterland.

A key feature of the Timber Trail will be its role as the host venue for the prestigious Sunshine Coast Wootha Prize, a nationally recognised woodworking competition that attracts leading furniture makers, sculptors, and contemporary designers from across Australia. The Wootha Prize celebrates excellence in furniture design, sculpture, and fine craftsmanship.

Spread across four buildings within walking distance, patrons can attend this free event while enjoying the beautiful streets of this iconic hinterland village. Beging with a coffee from a local cafe, head to St Mary’s Church Hall for some woodworking inspiration, then walk another 20 metres to the Village Hall to watch the workshops and live demonstrations by true masters of their craft. After browsing the handmade designer products next door at the Makers’ Design Fair Gallery Space, head down the road to Montvale to view the official 2026 Wootha Prize Exhibition.
